Maury Regional hip and knee replacement services recertified by The Joint Commission

02.12.2020

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) has been recertified by The Joint Commission for total knee and total hip replacement. Certification is awarded to organizations that demonstrate compliance with performance standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. MRMC has been certified for total knee and hip replacement since 2011, with recertification taking place every two years.

The certification recognizes health care organizations that provide clinical programs across the continuum of care for knee and hip replacement surgeries. MRMC underwent a rigorous on-site review, with a Joint Commission expert evaluating compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

“The continued certification of our hip and knee replacement programs is a reflection of the commitment to quality and safety by the orthopedic surgeons, surgical and nursing staff and physical therapy team who care for orthopedic patients. We are pleased that their efforts to deliver outstanding care have again been recognized in this manner,” said CEO Alan Watson.

MRMC offers a range of orthopedic services, from minimally invasive outpatient procedures to comprehensive knee, hip and shoulder replacement surgeries. Additional services for orthopedic patients include outpatient physical therapy and home health care. Learn more here.

Orthopedic surgeons on the medical staff who perform either knee or hip replacement are Scott W. McCall, M.D., W. Cason Shirley, M.D., J. Fredrick Wade, M.D., and H. James Wiesman Jr., M.D.
