Maury Regional announces new board appointments

COLUMBIA, TN — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) recently announced appointments to the board of trustees and advisory board for the 2021 term.

Houston Parks was reappointed to serve as chair of the board of trustees. Parks is an attorney in private practice with the law firm of Parks, Bryant and Snyder, PLLC, and has served on the board since 2009. He will serve his fourth term as chair in 2021.

Board member Scott Gaines was appointed to serve as vice chair in 2021. Gaines is the assistant superintendent of instruction for Maury County Public Schools. He has served as a board member since 2004.

In addition, James Grippo, M.D., and Greg Martin will be joining the board, filling positions vacated by Rodney Poling, M.D., and Mike Tyler, D.D.S.

Dr. Grippo is a radiologist affiliated with Southern Radiology Associates. He has been a member of the medical staff at Maury Regional Medical Center since 2007 and will serve as the chief of staff this year. As a member of the medical staff, he has served as chair of the Professional Review Committee and as the diagnostic chair and a member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Martin is a local developer with more than 27 years of experience and previously served on the advisory board on a variety of committees, including the Audit and Compliance Committee and the Planning and Facilities Committee. He is also a member of the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation board. Martin is a graduate of the University of Alabama.

Dr. Poling, who is relocating to Kentucky, has served on the board since 2016 and is a past member of the advisory board. He joined the MRMC medical staff in 1990 and is board certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.

Dr. Mike Tyler joined the board in 2007. He received his degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis and has been practicing dentistry since 1984. He has served as chair of Joint Conference, Land Ad Hoc, Planning and Facilities and as a member of various board committees.

Chuck Bramlett, M.D., a pathologist on the medical staff associated with PCA Southeast, Bethany Lay, vice president for advancement and executive director of Columbia State Community College Foundation, and Willie Nelson, a certified quality engineer who retired with General Motors, were reappointed to the advisory board.

Steve Burt will join the advisory board, replacing Hendley Edwards. Burt is a former chief information officer for Farm Bureau Insurance and has recently retired. He is a Columbia native who graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. He is an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Columbia and previously served as an adult leader with Boy Scouts of America.
