LEWISBURG, Tenn. — Marshall Medical Center’s Senior Life Solutions offers Beyond Tomorrow, a free guidance and support group for individuals typically 65 and older who are coping with age-related issues, including depression and anxiety.

Beyond Tomorrow meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at the Lewisburg Recreation Center, which is located at 1551 Mooresville Highway in Lewisburg. Meetings are facilitated by certified counselors and therapists associated with Marshall Medical Center’s Senior Life Solutions, an intensive outpatient therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of individuals typically 65 and older experiencing depression and/or anxiety related to life changes often associated with aging.

“We are pleased to offer this resource to help those in our community,” said Todd Fehrman, LPC/MHSP, NCC, the group’s facilitator and a licensed professional counselor who works with the Senior Life Solutions outpatient program at Marshall Medical Center. “Our vision is to create a welcoming setting for individuals to learn effective coping strategies to care for their mental health, either by sharing, discussing or simply listening.”

Individuals typically 65 and older are encouraged to attend the group meetings if they experience any of the following feelings:

  • Concerns about their health
  • Difficulty sleeping or eating
  • Excessive worry or hopelessness
  • Grief
  • Loneliness
  • Sadness
  • Thoughts of harming oneself*

The group’s upcoming meeting will take place Tuesday, September 13, at 2:30 p.m. at the Lewisburg Recreation Center. Attendees should use the Sports Complex parking area and entrance. Subsequent meetings will be held at the same time and location on the second Tuesday of each month.
