Maury Regional  hosts reunion for heart and pulmonary patients

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host a reunion for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients on Thursday, April 12, from 4 until 6 p.m. in the Auxiliary Conference Room. Former patients are invited to attend for a time of fellowship with staff members and fellow patients.

Dr. Janice M. Vinson, a cardiologist with Vanderbilt Heart-Columbia on the medical staff at MRMC, will speak at 4 p.m. Dr. Vinson will discuss the impact that triglycerides and metabolic syndrome can have on heart health.

The MRMC cardiac rehabilitation program is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and is designed to assist patients with heart disease by improving their physical, mental and cardiovascular health. Patients who have suffered a heart attack, had open heart surgery, heart valve replacement, heart transplant or coronary intervention are eligible to participate in the program with a physician’s referral. The program is supervised by a cardiologist and staffed with a registered nurse and exercise physiologist who monitor the activity of the patient’s heart during exercise.

Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation graduates are encouraged to attend the upcoming reunion. Heart healthy refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given. Attire is casual. For more information, call 931.380.4094.
