Childbirth at Maury Regional

Welcoming a new baby is an exciting time and Maury Regional Medical Center is pleased to offer an entire floor dedicated to childbirth and gynecological care. Tours of the fourth floor are given during a variety of free childbirth classes.

The fourth floor of the medical center offers spacious suites where mothers can experience labor, delivery and recovery in comfort and privacy. Our Mother/Baby Unit offers couplet care, allowing babies to room-in with their mothers to enhance the early bonding experience. A sleeper sofa is also available in each room for family or guests.

Maury Regional Medical Center has 24-hour anesthesiology coverage as well as two fully-equipped and staffed operating suites.

For a list of physicians who deliver at Maury Regional, visit our Find a Doctor tool or select a specialty from the Doctors section on this page.

NEWBORN CARE

During the hospital stay mothers may elect to have their established community-based physician provide care for their newborn, or may choose to take advantage of our hospital-based, board-certified pediatricians. Our hospital pediatricians are available in the hospital 24 hours per day and offer additional services such as performing in-room examination of your baby and providing extended teaching sessions allowing time for you to discuss and ask questions regarding the care and progress of your baby.

Should your child need to return to Maury Regional Medical Center later in his or her childhood, know that our board certified pediatricians will be on staff to insure that our pediatric patients receive some of the best care in the nation. Learn more in the Children’s Health section of our website and view hospital pediatricians in our Find a Doctor tool by selecting the Hospital Medicine specialty.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

In the instance that your newborn may need an enhanced level of care, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is located within our fourth floor. Neonatology physicians and neonatal nurse practitioners are provided by the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and partner with our NICU trained registered nurses to provide the best possible care for your newborn. Visit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit page to learn more.
