MAURY REGIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION GROUP HOSTS HOLIDAY FOOD PROGRAM

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Diabetes Education Group at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host a special meeting titled “Holiday Foods to Enjoy” on Tuesday, November 4 in the medical center’s Private Dining Room 1 at 11:30 a.m. The group, which meets monthly at MRMC, encourages the public to attend this free event.

Morrisons Chef Roberto Brito will be the featured guest at the meeting on November 4. He will discuss and prepare favorite holiday dishes that are suitable for diabetics. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample dishes such as pumpkin pie and turkey dressing, and will be given recipes they can try at home.

“The most important thing about managing diabetes during any holiday season is to plan ahead,” said Donna Shedd, RN and diabetes program coordinator at Maury Regional Medical Center. “Chef Brito will demonstrate to attendees ways to lower fat, sugar and carbohydrate counts in your favorite foods while still keeping the taste and texture you love.”
