MAURY REGIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION GROUP DISCUSSES HEART DISEASE

COLUMBIA, Tenn. —The Diabetes Education Group at Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host a meeting titled “Heart Disease: Could It Happen To Me?” on Tuesday, February 1, in the medical center’s Private Dining Room One at 11:30 a.m. The group, which meets monthly at MRMC, encourages the public to attend this free event.

Karen Miller, an RN on the cardiac rehabilitation staff at the medical center, will discuss heart disease, the increased risk that those with diabetes face, and ways to decrease that risk.

“People with diabetes have more than twice the risk of having a heart attack or stroke than those without diabetes,” said Miller. “At the upcoming program, we will talk about ways that you can help to decrease the risk of developing heart health problems.”
