MAURY REGIONAL OFFERS PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will be offering a free prostate cancer screening on Friday, September 25, from 2:00 p.m until 4:00 p.m. Screenings will be conducted at Northside Medical Plaza at 1600 Nashville Highway in Columbia.

The American Cancer Society recommends that men age 50 and older be screened annually for prostate cancer.  Men at high risk, including those with a family history of prostate cancer and African-Americans, are encouraged to be screened at an even younger age. As with any form of cancer, early detection is key to successful treatment.

Those encouraged to attend are men who do not have a personal physician and who have not been screened for prostate cancer within the past 12 months. Drs. Neil O. Chamberlain, James M. Fitts, Jr., Stephen H. Heffington and Anthony D. Khim, board-certified urologists on the medical staff at MRMC, will be conducting the free screenings.

Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment for a prostate cancer screening on September 25, call 931.380.4044.
