THINK PINK LUNCHEON BENEFITS BREAST CANCER PATIENTS

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The third annual Think Pink luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17. The luncheon and fashion show will be held at noon in Vest Hall on the Columbia Academy campus. Tickets are $30. All proceeds will benefit The Retreat, a hospitality house for cancer patients that was established by the Maury Regional Healthcare Foundation, and the Women’s Center, for the purchase of camisoles for breast cancer patients.

Entertainment will by provided by Briana Lawler Dean, who has been performing on stage since the age of 5.  An Alabama native, Dean has opened for the legendary Loretta Lynn and performed at several venues including The Blue Bird Café, The Helen Keller Festival, The Big Spring Jam, and Watermelon Festival. In August 2006, Dean signed a publishing contract with Warner-Chappell a division of Warner Brothers Music.  Dean has written songs with hit songwriter Walt Aldridge, whose current chart climber is "I Loved Her First", performed by Heartland.

Dean will be followed by the a cappella gospel group Ladies in Christ’s Service (LinCS). The group, organized in 2002, consists of five members who share their faith through music. Over the years, LinCS has participated in songfests, community programs, Black History programs, and live radio shows as well as performed at area nursing homes. Members of the group are Portia Glenn, director; Debbie Rhodes, soprano; Cynthia Taylor and Dana McClure, first altos; and Senequa Holloway, second alto.

The event will also include a fashion show sponsored by local boutiques The Spoiled Lady, All About You, Ruby’s Red Dress, and Molly Anna’s with make-up and styling by The Beauty Clinic. These boutiques will showcase their upcoming fall collections and many of the models will be breast cancer survivors.

Attendees are encouraged to wear pink attire. Door prizes will include a drawing for 10 free mammograms. Winners who have had a mammogram within the past year or who are covered by insurance are encouraged to donate the mammogram to someone who might benefit from this gift.
