DR. SEVERE NAMED 2010 MAURY REGIONAL PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Rebecca S. Severe, M.D., a specialist in internal medicine and pediatrics and a member of the Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) hospitalist group, was named Physician of the Year at the annual meeting of the medical staff on December 7. This award is presented annually to the physician who best represents his or her profession and the mission, vision and values of the medical center.

“Dr. Severe is highly intelligent, professional and efficient. According to her peers, her compassion and kindness is evident as she comforts family members in the midst of critical situations,” said CEO Robert Otwell.

Dr. Severe has been on the medical staff since 2005 and is currently the chairman of the continuing medical education committee. She has also been involved in the health information management, infection control, and glycemic control workgroup committees, the latter for which she helped develop glycemic control protocols and order sets.

Dr. Severe received her medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She completed a residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She is board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics.
