Maury Regional Surgery Center

The Maury Regional Surgery Center staff strives to provide excellent care. To help make your experience as pleasant and convenient as possible, below is important information that you should know prior to surgery:

Prior to Surgery

  • We will call you before the scheduled surgery to go over important pre-operative instructions, obtain insurance information and answer any questions. If you don't hear from us 24 hours prior to surgery, please call 931.375.5100.
  • If additional questions arise, feel free to call the center.
  • If your condition changes before surgery, notify your physician or Maury Regional Surgery Center. This may include catching a cold, exposure to a communicable disease or any other change in health.
  • Bring all insurance materials. These include insurance identification cards and forms. You should be prepared to pay any deductible and co-insurance on the day of surgery.
  • The center accepts cash, cashier's check, MasterCard and Visa.
  • Care credit is available. Ask about it.
  • The business office will contact you prior to surgery to notify you of the amount of insurance benefits estimated and your share of the expenses.
  • Be sure to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled surgery. This allows time for routine pre-operative preparations.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing and leave all jewelry and valuables at home. Storage for clothing will be provided.
  • Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. (Please check with your physician regarding your usual medications.) Anything you eat or drink including water is dangerous.

Patients may have a family member stay with them before and after their procedure.  Parents of pediatric patients are free to bring a favorite stuffed animal or security blanket for added reassurance.

Going Home

When it is time for you to be discharged, verbal and written instructions will be provided for your care at home. Do not drive or use public transportation to return home. Please arrange for an adult to drive you home and have someone stay with you for 24 hours. Anesthesia and medications will slow your reflexes and may make you feel drowsy.

A nurse will call you at home to check on your progress and answer any questions. Follow your physician's instructions regarding medication, diet, exercise and resuming normal activities. Contact your physician's office for any further follow-up visits.

We hope you will be pleased with the service you receive, and that you will have a quick and complete recovery. In the meantime, if you have any questions, call your physician or Maury Regional Surgery Center at 931.375.5100.
