Maury Regional Health Care Foundation funds cardiac monitor for Columbia Fire Department

04.20.2018

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation recently funded equipment that allows first responders from the Columbia Fire Department (CFD) to provide on-scene cardiac monitoring for potential heart attack patients.

The Foundation provided approximately $35,000 to purchase a Zoll X-series monitor that is now in use by CFD personnel. The equipment is the same as that used by Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with 12-lead technology that allows first responders to assess heart function and transmit information ahead of a patient’s arrival to the Emergency Department and mobilization of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory if necessary.

“We are pleased to provide this additional tool to Columbia Fire Department for use by first responders in assessing patients who may be experiencing a heart attack,” said Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore.

In the past eleven years, the Foundation has funded over $2 million in programs and services. For more information, call 931.380.4075 or visit MauryRegionalFoundation.com.
