Breast cancer survivors are joined by guest speakers and clinical professionals to provide support in coping with breast cancer. Attendees range from long-term survivors to those newly diagnosed. Meetings are held in the Maury Regional Women's Center and topics include breast cancer treatment, hormone therapies and support services available. For more information, call 931.540.4166.


The Cancer Support Group provides support to everyone impacted by cancer, including the newly diagnosed, cancer survivors and their family and friends. Meetings will provide attendees the opportunity to discuss the challenges, frustrations, fears and feelings associated with cancer. For more information, call 931.490.7192.


The Celiac Support Group provides support to those living with celiac disease, an autoimmune disease in which the small intestine is damaged from eating gluten. Foods containing gluten include most grains, pasta, cereal and many processed foods that contain wheat, barley or rye. The group meets at Maury Regional Medical Center on a quarterly basis with programs that provide information on maintaining a gluten-free diet. For more information, call 931.381.1111, extension 1275.


The Diabetes Support Group (formerly known as the Diabetes Education Group) meets each month to share information about the management of diabetes. Meetings are facilitated by a certified diabetes educator and topics include controlling blood sugar, the impact of diabetes on the vascular system and much more. Those with diabetes and family members are encouraged to attend this meeting held in the Maury Regional Annex. This is a free program and registration is not required. The Empty Arms Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group offers a supportive atmosphere for parents to share experiences, gain information about grief and learn valuable coping skills. The group meets monthly at the Maury Regional Annex, across from Maury Reginal Medical Center at 1223 Trotwood Avenue in Columbia. Meetings include speakers and pastoral care. The Feeling Fabulous program helps women with cancer look and feel better as their body experiences changes as a result of cancer treatment. The program brings together stylists, nutritionists and exercise specialists to help women facing cancer look and feel their best during a difficult time. Topics addressed include makeup techniques for hair loss and skin changes (includes a free makeup kit), skin and nail care, wigs and other head coverings and nutrition. The Feeling Fabulous program is held quarterly at the Maury Regional Cancer Center. Stylists volunteer their time and all supplies are made possible by the Women’s Center Fund of the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation. Class size is limited. Advance registration is required. Losing someone you love is painful and brings about a multitude of emotions that vary by individual and by experience. The goal of this group is to help those dealing with grief find healthy ways to cope with the pain and to work toward finding a balance between remembering a loved one and leading a healthy productive life. Multiple sclerosis (MS) SUPPORT GROUP

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) support group provides education and support for those impacted by MS, including the newly diagnosed, their families and friends. A diagnosis of MS brings challenges, frustration and fear. The goal of this support group is to provide a forum for learning more about MS, the resources available and to create an environment for open discussion and support. Facilitators are Maura Lipp, M.D., and Chaplain Lyndall Propst. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at the Maury Regional Annex at 6 p.m. For more information, call 931.540.4243.


The Ostomy Support Group is for persons with an ileostomy, colostomy or urostomy. Family members and friends are invited. Individuals whose physician has recommended an ostomy and would like to learn more prior to surgery are also encouraged to attend. Meetings are held at Maury Regional Medical Center. The Stroke Support Group is for those who have experienced a stroke as well as their family, caregivers and friends. Meetings are held in the Maury Regional Annex located at 1223 Trotwood Avenue – across from the hospital  at 6 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month (except for a combined November/December meeting). Agendas vary and include speakers, networking, resource information and much more. Stroke survivors are encouraged to attend as this meeting is especially for you. Individuals who are preparing for weight loss (bariatric) surgery or who have completed bariatric surgery are invited to attend this monthly support group. Meetings focus on dietary management, exercise, lifestyle changes and other topics to help patients achieve and maintain their goals.
