Maury Regional Health Care Foundation to host annual Mule Kick 5K and 1-Mile Trot on April 6

01.23.2019

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Hosted by the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation and presented by Reliant Bank, the annual Mule Kick 5K and 1-Mile Trot will take place Saturday, April 6, at Riverwalk Park in Columbia.

According to Maury Regional Health Care Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore, proceeds from the 2019 Mule Kick 5K and 1-Mile Trot will provide funding for the mobile medical unit, which provides health care services to at-risk and underserved individuals throughout southern Middle Tennessee by providing basic health screenings, education and resource options.

“Through the generosity of donors, the Foundation was able to fund the purchase of a specially-equipped RV and the mobile unit began operation in February 2018,” Kilgore said. “In less than one year, this unit has touched the lives of more than 7,000 individuals in our region. From assisting individuals with high blood pressure to providing education about health conditions and community resources, the mobile unit team has done an amazing job of impacting lives. We want to help them continue their exemplary work in assisting those less fortunate through the fundraising at this event.”

A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Wellness and Aquatic Center Healthy Living Endowment and the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department for youth summer camp scholarships.

On Saturday, April 6, the course will begin at Riverwalk Park next to Riverside Elementary with an 8 a.m. start time for the 5K and a 9 a.m. start time for the 1-Mile Family Trot. Both runners and walkers are encouraged to participate. Refreshments will be provided and awards will be given to the men’s and women’s overall finishers and to the men’s and women’s master overall finishers as well as to the top three finishers in each age group by gender. The 1-Mile Trot will award the top three male and female overall finishers.

In addition to presenting sponsor Reliant Bank, sponsorships ranging from $350 to $2,500 are still available for those who want marketing exposure at this event.

Participants may register online at MuleKick5K.org. For additional information, including sponsorship opportunities, contact the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation at 931.380.4075.
