Maury Regional announces new board appointments

COLUMBIA, TN – The Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Board of Trustees recently announced appointments to the board of trustees and advisory board.

Houston Parks was reappointed to serve as chair of the board of trustees. Parks is an attorney in private practice with the law firm of Parks, Bryant and Snyder, PLLC, and has served on the board since 2009. He will serve his second term as chair in 2019.

Board member Rodney Poling, M.D., was re-elected to serve a second term as vice chair. Dr. Poling has served on the board since 2016 and is a past member of the advisory board. He joined the MRMC medical staff in 1990 and is board certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.

Two new board members received appointments, replacing Doug Williamson and Susan Gray, M.D., who retired from the board.

Jeffrey Adams, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon who has been a member of the MRMC medical staff since 1991, having served as chief of staff in 2009. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, graduating with high honors in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed an internship and residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina and is board certified in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Adams is a member of several organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine, Tennessee Orthopedic Society, American Medical Association, Maury County Medical Society and the Clinical Orthopedic Society.

Beverly Horner is retired member-in-charge of the KraftCPAs assurance services department and Columbia office. She joined the firm in 1988. In addition to overseeing quality control and administration of the audit practice, she was a member on the firm's financial institutions team. She is a certified public accountant, certified financial services auditor and registered qualified peer reviewer. She holds a master of business administration from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s in chemistry from Middle Tennessee State University.

Joining the advisory board is Justin Rhinehart, PhD. He replaces Drew Parker who served on the advisory board from 2013 to 2018, reaching the term limit for advisory board members. Rhinehart is associate professor for the University of Tennessee Department of Animal Science. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, a master’s degree in reproductive physiology from the University of Kentucky and a PhD in reproductive physiology from West Virginia University.

They have served as trusted advisors and helped to guide our organization as we have continued to advance,” said Maury Regional Health CEO Alan Watson. “We also look forward to working with Dr. Adams and Beverly as they join the outstanding group of community leaders who serve on our governing board and Justin in his role on the advisory board.”

Williamson, a retired Maury County Farm Bureau agency manager and Columbia resident for more than 24 years, served on the board from 2004 to 2018, serving as the chair from 2009 to 2017.

Dr. Gray, a specialist in gynecology, has been a member of the medical staff at MRMC since 1986 and served as a member of the board from 2002 to 2018.
