COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Maury County Gun Club hosted the annual Shoot for a Cure event May 18, raising $6,363 for the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation’s Women’s Center Fund.
The local club first organized the event in 2012 to support breast cancer patients throughout southern Middle Tennessee and has since raised more than $23,000. Proceeds from Shoot for a Cure assist breast cancer patients with meeting treatment-related needs by helping to fund wigs, camisoles, transportation expenses and more.
“We are extremely thankful for the support the Maury County Gun Club continues to show for cancer patients in our region,” said Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore. “Their generous efforts have helped to provide assistance for hundreds of individuals over the years.”
More than 100 people participated in the 2019 Shoot for a Cure. Participants spent the day competing individually and as teams in trap and skeet shooting. Several items were also available for auction.
“The club strives to be a good neighbor in our community and this is a way we can contribute,” said Don Kerce, a Maury County Gun Club board member who organized the event. “Thank you to all the individuals and organizations who donated their time and items to the cause.”
