COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation was recently given a $238,590.38 gift from the late Charles and Gail Pigg.
“We are very grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Pigg for their deferred gift to the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation,” said Joe Kilgore, executive director of the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation. “Their generosity will positively impact thousands of lives in our region.”
Charles Pigg spent more than two decades as an electrician with Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC). He was the owner of Pigg’s Electric, which he started in 1973 after working briefly with Frakes Electric.
“Charles was a hard worker and a mentor to me, but more importantly, a good man,” said Chad Fox, a bio-med tech at MRMC who first started working with Mr. Pigg in 1994 as a maintenance specialist. “I enjoyed working with and getting to know Charles during our many years together.”
Charles Pigg was a lifelong resident of Santa Fe in Maury County. He was born in 1938 and graduated in 1956 from Santa Fe High School before marrying Mary Gail Rountree Pigg in 1958. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2017.
Before his death on Dec. 21, 2020, Charles Pigg spent his retirement years farming at his Santa Fe residence and restoring the historic Pigg Schoolhouse. An avid collector, he also operated The Pigg Museum, which was featured in a 2010 episode of Tennessee Crossroads.
