WAYNESBORO, Tenn. — Wayne Medical Center (WMC) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with performance standards, according to WMC CEO Tyler Taylor. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

“The staff and physicians at Wayne Medical Center work together to continuously provide quality care for members of our community. We are pleased that these efforts have resulted in this valued accreditation from The Joint Commission,” said Taylor.

WMC recently underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite survey when a team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to several areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. Surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

The Joint Commission has accredited hospitals since 1951 and is the nation’s largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 22,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.

“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” said Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Wayne Medical Center for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”

The Joint Commission’s hospital standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help hospitals measure, assess and improve performance.

Wayne Medical Center offers a range of health care services, including inpatient care, a 24-hour emergency department, imaging, laboratory services, endoscopy and sleep studies as well as physical, speech and occupational therapy. For more information, click here.
