Maury Regional partners with health department to offer vaccines

COLUMBIA, TN Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) has partnered with the Maury County Health Department to offer vaccines to the public, according to Maury Regional Health CEO Alan Watson.

“We are pleased to be working with the Maury County Health Department to pool our resources and offer more vaccinations for the public. We continue to see the virus impact residents, particularly our senior population that is more vulnerable and more likely to be hospitalized due to COVID-19, and the vaccine is a crucial step in offering them vital protection,” said Watson

On January 11, county health departments across the state launched a new online tool that enables individuals to register to be placed on a vaccine priority list. Individuals in a phase currently being vaccinated in their county can register online at Click the applicable county on the map and then click “Make an Appointment.” Those who register will be asked to enter their name and contact information for notification of their appointment date, time and location as soon as vaccine becomes available.

Currently, only health care workers in phases 1a1 and 1a2 and individuals age 75 and older are being vaccinated in Maury County. Those receiving an appointment confirmation in Maury County will be vaccinated at drive-through events at Columbia State Community College, providing those with limited mobility a comfortable and convenient option for vaccination. Individuals must have a confirmed appointment in order to receive a vaccination. Specific dates are dependent upon vaccine availability.

Once vaccinated, an individual will receive a card indicating which vaccine — Pfizer or Moderna — they received and the date they should return for the second dose of the vaccine. Those who received a first-dose prior to the January 11 launch of the online tool will be contacted by the health department to schedule the second dose.

“By collaborating with our local health system in the early stages of the vaccine rollout, we can vaccinate more residents quickly while continuing our COVID-19 testing at the health department,” said Maury County Health Department Director Andrew Kenney. “We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful health system based in our county to provide assistance.”
