WAYNESBORO, Tenn. — Wayne Medical Center will host its 13th annual community health fair Saturday, April 15, at Green River Baptist Church at 1061 Collinwood Highway in Waynesboro. The health fair will take place from 8 a.m. until noon.
Wayne Medical Center will join a number of community organizations to offer free health screenings, health and wellness information, refreshments and door prizes. Free screenings will include testing for:
- Blood oxygen level
- Blood pressure
- BMI
- Cholesterol
- Glucose
- Grip strength and fitness
- Heart rate
In addition, Wayne Medical Center will offer mammograms that Saturday for those in attendance at the health fair. To pre-register for a mammogram at Wayne Medical Center on April 15, call 931.380.4044. A limited number of walk-in spots will also be available for health fair participants who do not pre-register. Annual screening mammograms are covered by most insurance plans for women ages 40 and older who have not had their mammogram in at least one year. Financial counselors and scheduling personnel will also be on site at the health fair to provide assistance for those looking to schedule a mammogram at Wayne Medical Center on an alternate day or who have questions about insurance coverage. For community residents needing to safely dispose of unneeded prescription medications, the health fair will serve as a free drug takeback location in partnership with local law enforcement agencies. Medications that are no longer needed or are expired can be brought to the health fair for safe disposal.
