COLUMBIA, Tenn. — The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation recently provided grant funding to the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee to support the Club’s health and wellness programs for local youth.
The Foundation funded $40,000 in total, including $30,000 from the Dr. Eslick Daniel Youth Health Initiatives Fund and $10,000 from the Behavioral Health Fund.
“The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation is proud to partner yet again with the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee and help expand the Club’s health and wellness programs for our local youth,” Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore said. “The Club does a lot of positive things for our community, and we’re happy to help support their mission.”
With the funding, the Club hopes to certify its entire frontline staff, including training on different types of mental illnesses, signs and symptoms, crisis management response plans, professional help referrals and more. Staff will then be better equipped to help youth build the skills needed to identify their emotions, process them and find healthy coping methods.
The Club is also hoping to partner with local counselors to provide counseling services for youth in need.
The Foundation’s Behavioral Health Fund, established in memory of Joshua Short and Michael Watson, provides support to address behavioral health needs. The Dr. Eslick Daniel Youth Health Initiatives Fund provides educational materials and resources for projects improving the health of youth.
