There are times that a urological condition may require treatment through outpatient surgery or another procedure. In those cases, the Maury Regional Medical Group Urology team will discuss your particular condition with you and provide information about any procedures that may be recommended based on your particular health needs.

When needed, procedures may be performed in our office or in a surgical suite. Procedures that can be performed in an outpatient surgery setting by our urological specialists include:

  • Sling procedure for bladder prolapse
  • Procedures for stress incontinence
  • Cystoscopy – this procedure helps your doctor examine the bladder and urethra to diagnose and treat conditions related to the urinary tract.

  • Kidney stone removal (lithotripsy, laser)
  • Stent placement for kidney stones
  • Ureteroscopy – a procedure that passes a small scope through the urethra and bladder into the ureter to remove a kidney stone.

  • UroNav – an MRI-guided biopsy of the prostate for those with an elevated PSA or enlarged prostate
  • Rezum – water therapy to treat enlarged prostate
  • SpaceOAR placement - injection of a gel-based spacer prior to radiation therapy for men with diagnosed prostate cancer
  • ADT therapy - Androgen deprivation therapy for management of hormones in patients with prostate cancer

Reproductive Health:

  • Vasectomy
  • Inflatable Penile Prosthesis (IPP) – a surgically implanted device that helps men with erection issues get and sustain an erection.

While most instances of prostate cancer can be successfully managed when detected early, advanced cases may require removal of the prostate. In such cases, patients would be referred by our office to a surgical specialist.

The physicians and nurse practitioners with Maury Regional Medical Group Urology tailor treatment options to each patient's unique needs. Learn more about procedures available to address the unique needs of men and women in our Men's Health and Women's Health sections.
