HEART ATTACK
Time is critical when someone experiences a heart attack. Every second can matter.
Wayne Medical Center offers 24-hour emergency care and diagnostic services to stabilize patients who may be experiencing a cardiac issue. Our physicians work closely with cardiology specialists at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia to diagnose a heart attack and prepare the patient for transport to a cardiac catheterization laboratory, if necessary.
The first step to recognizing a heart attack – even in the early stages – is knowing what signs to watch for. Become familiar with the signs of a possible heart attack here.
Stroke
Stroke occurs when a vessel in the brain ruptures or becomes blocked by a blood clot.
When stroke is suspected, it is important to respond as quickly as possible. The effects of this health condition can become more serious with every minute that passes. Immediate medical attention can help prevent long-lasting effects.
At Wayne Medical Center, our emergency professionals use a telehealth video conferencing platform to connect with neurology specialists for a timely diagnosis and treatment plan. This may include administration of time-sensitive medications to open blocked arteries and/or transport to a higher level of care.
